Meet Our Staff
Bo Renshaw, MSPT, ATC
I was an athlete in high school and discovered physical therapy when I broke an ankle one summer. I was amazed at what a physical therapist could do without drugs or surgery. When I went to college, I remembered my physical therapy experience and decided to become a physical therapy volunteer, and I quickly found out that this is what I wanted to do with my life. And I've never regretted my decision since.

Interaction with my colleagues is very important. The first benefit that comes to mind is the free flow of information that has had a direct influence on my practice over the years. The second benefit is knowing that something I may have recommended to a colleague has made a difference for a patient I'll never meet. That gives me great satisfaction.

Kathy Borrelli, PT, OMPT
As a High School senior I investigated several career options to help me make the decision on "what I should do when I grow up." Physical Therapy was appealing because it would allow me to help others improve their life. I have been a physical therapist for 26 years and have never regretted my decision. In Physical Therapy you are always growing and learning as you work with different people and different problems. I am inspired by patient's that are able to battle back from terrible problems and always have a smile on their face. I many times receive as much from the treatment as the patient! Early on I felt a calling to help others, with Physical Therapy being an answer to my prayers.

I appreciate the ability to share ideas with other therapists concerning patient treatments. We all have had different experiences in our careers, and each patient is an individual, so a technique or treatment that worked well with one person may not be the best for another. Having a good working environment where there are other colleagues to brainstorm with on how to help a patient is important to me, and I feel that I have that environment at Central Arkansas Sports Medicine.

Shu Hayashi, MS, ATC Certified Athletic Trainer
It was my senior year in college when I heard about becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer in the United States for the first time. Having been an athlete for my entire life, I always wanted to become a professional who could help dedicated athletes achieve their goals. It did not take me long to decide to leave home and fly to the United States to pursue a career in athletic training. I was very fortunate to meet wonderful instructors and professors at the University of Alabama who patiently and enthusiastically taught me the highest quality of athletic training.

After obtaining my masters degree, I continued to work for UCA for one and a half years as a full-time staff athletic trainer. When my term at UCA was over, I moved to Russellville and started working at a physical therapy clinic where I was an integral part of patient treatment. At the same time I was also the head athletic trainer at several area high schools.

Athletic training and physical therapy are two different professions, but we do have many things in common. I enjoy interacting with people, whether they are athletes or patients. A great thing about our professions is that we get to meet so many people and can do something to help everyone. It gives me great satisfaction when I know that I have become a small, good part of their life, and that is what keeps me going.
